Wire systems

Pigeons and other birds cannot sit on thin, taught stainless steel wire and are thus driven away.

The height of wire systems is prescribed with 110 mm. This value is based on experience, because the pigeon cannot then reach the ground. The system must be adjusted for other birds.

The important characteristics of wire systems

  • Stainless steel pins are bored or riveted at ca. 1,5m centres into the structure. A 0,54mm thin stainless steel wire is attached to the springs on the pins.
  • The wire is attached at a height of 110mm. If the wire is not taught enough, pigeons can land between the wires. If the wires are too taught, it is possible to fly under the system.
  • An under flying protection method prevents birds from flying under the system and increases the effectiveness of the system. We recommend the under flying protection system with the initial installation.
  • The system can be flexibly adjusted to various ledges and attics depths by varying the number of wire rows.
  • Wire systems are suitable for medium to heavy populations of birds.

Alternative system

  • Our combination system can be used for continuous installations of 15 meters or more. This system is often used in attics.

Versions

  • Balustrades, dewatering pipes and other pipework are often used by Pigeons for nesting and resting. The pipe clamp wire system was developed for this.
  • There is a special wire system for roof ridges, which is attached to the roof slates.
  • When it is possible with the surface, the stainless steel wire rods can be mounted directly into the side walls.

References
Pros
  • Discreet
  • effective and safe
  • Long-life
  • Durable
  • Can also be installed on guttering overlaps and snow guards.
Cons
  • Boring is necessary for installation
  • If improperly installed, the wire taughtness slackens. Hanging wires make the system ineffective.
